Special mention was made of the leadership of Colin Trotter, who led the team of people who supported the concept started in 1964, to have a collection of pioneer transport on display for present and future generations to appreciate. A large number of supporters were present and enjoyed a last look at the Bowen Street display that has given Feilding a leading presence in the history of early transport in New Zealand. To set the wheels of change in place, the Bowen Street Museum was closed on December 23, so packing of all the many articles that make up the museum collection can be prepared for the shift. Much of the display lighting will be removed and re-used. The carpet squares will also be lifted and utilised. Shelving has been re-assemble in the South Street Community Archive. The many parts acquired from Canterbury University present a jigsaw of variations, a test which should be enjoyed, once the puzzle is solved. A further group has started cleaning up the store rooms and volunteer amenities. The floor has been cleaned and painted at South Street with time to cure and harden over the Christmas period. Immediately following New Year, the display lighting began to be erected at South Street. So many of these jobs are ones that require completion before any displays are put in their new positions. There is no doubt that a move is now in progress. Settlers Day 21st January 2012 is the annual recognition by the Feilding and Districts Historic Society of the arrival of the first settlers to the Manchester Block and when Feilding was officially recognised as a town of significance. The Coach House Trust will take this opportunity to move a number of the vehicles as a parade from Bowen Street to South Street. It will not be all of the vehicles but those that can be moved via their own wheels. This will be an opportunity for the public to have a brief view of these unique and historic vehicles as they are re-sited at their new place of residence. Most will be powered by human energy via the willing strength of the Feilding Old Boys - Oroua Rugby club's offer of a number of hours to assist a community project with their labour. The Coach House were fortunate to receive this prize, following a Feilding Herald competition to find a worthy cause as a pre- season workout. It would be great to have the vehicles being drawn by appropriate horses, but the availability of safe, sound and reliable horses to trust with these precious artifacts are rare, so the option to have the majority drawn by rugby players is another community involvement that we believe will give equal value to this momentous occasion. The Coach House is moving to 121 South Street 4247998AA
